Dial Caliper

Application
Functions For Dial Caliper:
1. External Measurement: Measuring the outer dimensions of an object.
2. Internal Measurement: Measuring the diameter or internal groove of a hole using the internal jaws.
3. Depth Measurement: Measuring the depth of a hole or step using the depth rod.
4. Step Measurement: Measuring the height of steps or raised parts.
Usage For Dial Caliper:
1. External Measurement:
*Loosen the locking screw and move the caliper jaws.
*Open the jaws wider than the object's external diameter.
*Lightly place the jaws on the object’s outer surface and gently close them until they just touch the object.
*Read the integer value on the main scale, then read the decimal value on the dial, and sum the two values for the final reading.
2. Internal Measurement:
*Insert the internal jaws into the hole to be measured.
*Move the caliper so the jaws touch the inner walls of the hole.
*Ensure the jaws are parallel to the inner walls, then read the values from the main scale and the dial.
3. Depth Measurement:
*Insert the depth rod into the hole or slot to be measured.
*Place the base of the caliper against the surface of the hole or slot opening.
*Move the rod to the bottom of the hole or slot, then read the values from the main scale and the dial.
4. Step Measurement:
*Place one pair of caliper jaws on different heights of the step.
*Move the caliper until the jaws just touch the two different heights, then read the values from the main scale and the dial.
Precautions For Dial Caliper:
1. Calibration and Inspection: Before use, check if the zero point of the dial caliper is accurate. If not, calibrate it by closing the jaws to the zero position and ensuring the dial reads zero.
2. Cleaning: Ensure that the workpiece and the caliper's measuring surfaces are clean before measurement to avoid dust or debris affecting accuracy.
3. Smooth Operation: Move the jaws smoothly and gently to avoid deforming the jaws or damaging the caliper.
4. Avoid Impact: As a precision instrument, avoid dropping or striking the dial caliper to prevent damage to the dial or compromising its accuracy.
5. Locking Screw: After measuring, use the locking screw to fix the jaws in place to prevent movement and reading errors.
6. Rust Prevention: After use, clean the caliper and apply anti-rust oil to the measuring surfaces. Store it in a dry place to prevent rust.
6. Calibration: Regularly calibrate for accuracy.
